Story
ULNC, before the 11th of November are going to run, walk or cycle the distance from Lincoln to Flanders. The girls will cover 337 miles over the next two and a half weeks!
After delving into the history if Lincoln we have chosen specifically to remember L.M Ward who fought in WW2 and was a part of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, as an Aircraft Woman, First Class. She died at the age of 21 on the 3rd March 1944 and was buried at Lincoln Newport Cemetery. As a group of young women we found it incredibly inspiring to learn about Wards story and thought more women should be recognised for their support and devotion throughout both wars. It's incredible to think a woman our very own age as young as us could play such a huge role and be a part of such a large success in British History inspiring us to keep the memory alive and celebrate her role in this.
This story hit home for ULNC as she died at the same age as we are now. We wanted to do something to raise awareness of stories like these as they gave their lives for ours and should not be forgotten.
