Story
Once upon a time, around 6 years ago, I volunteered with my friend Pam at a Guide Dogs event and there was no going back. In that day I got a bitesize understanding of the magic of guide dogs, the practicalities of living with sight loss and the impact that has on someone and their friends and family. I was lucky enough to get a role working for Guide Dogs and since then I have learnt, and continue to learn, so much. One thing that has stayed true is the understanding of the magnitude of what Guide Dogs can do to support someone with sight loss. I blame Tony Benham completely for subjecting me to Total Warrior, but every one of the team believe wholeheartedly in the work Guide Dogs does and are happy to do jump over the 'human BBQ' to support it.
I am unfit, but hopefully by the time this evil event comes around, and with Tony's training schedule, I'll at least be able to get myself around the course without crying. Any support you can give will be gratefully received - the services Guide Dogs provides only happen because of donations and the most incredible volunteers. Thank you for any support!
Every day, 250 people join the 2 million already living with sight loss and this number is set to double by 2050. Guide Dogs rely on generous donations and the money you donate will help them be there for children and adults living with sight loss now and in the future ensuring they don't lose their freedom and independence, just like Priya. "When I was partnered with my first dog, Wilf, it was love at first sight! He gave me the confidence to go out more and do everyday things, like picking up my daughter from school. Having a guide dog is life-changing experience and I'm phenomenally grateful to Guide Dogs for enabling me to be more independent." Priya, guide dog owner. Thank you so much for supporting me and Guide Dogs!
