Story
Since we aren’t doing any training or fitness due to lockdown, we have decided to do a few fitness fundraisers in order to maintain our fitness and raise money for important charities.
Between the 2s team we will run 460 miles (740km) which is the distance from Manchester to Marlow (England hockey headquarters) to Lee Valley Hockey Centre (national stadium for hockey) and back to Manchester. Between all 22 of us it’s about 33km which is achieveable and obviously supposed to be a challenge. You can walk/run/cycle/rollerblade the distance but all has to be tracked on Strava or send to me and I can track on Strava! We are aiming to do this before the 18th of December (the last day of term).
You can track the progress of the 2s on Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/UMWHC2XI
Due to the current cut in school meals for children we have chosen FareShare as our charity. FareShare fights hunger in the UK by redistributing good food which would otherwise go to waste to almost 11,000 frontline charities nationwide. We feed almost a million people a week but there's an urgent need to do more. Please join the fight against hunger and food waste and support FareShare today. Thank you
In addition, For the first 12 days of December UMWHC 3XI will be doing a 12 Days of Christmas Fitness challenge. Each day we will be accumulating a new exercise as well as doing the exercises of the previous days.
Our challenge is a fun way to get us all moving again as we come out of lockdown and training is still unable to go ahead. It’s something that can be done by all at home, no equipment necessary, look on UMWHC socials to follow along and see evidence of our efforts!
We hope you enjoy & donate to this extremely important cause
