RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 2022
I'm taking on the challenge of cycling 500 km over 4 days from London to Paris to help raise money and awareness for Myeloma UK. Multiple Myeloma is a relapsing-remitting blood cancer which is currently incurable. Please take a moment to read the message below:
Sadly, we all know or have heard of someone that has been affected by cancer. However not many have heard of Multiple Myeloma. Myeloma develops when DNA is damaged during the development of plasma calls (a type of white blood cell that usually helps us to fight infections). Myeloma causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells. Rather than produce helpful antibodies, the cancer cells produce abnormal proteins that can cause complications. It is referred to as ‘Multiple’ Myeloma as it commonly spreads and affects many parts of the body. In the UK alone, approximately 5,700 people are diagnosed with Myeloma every year. Currently, Multiple Myeloma can't be cured which is why research has become critically important. Our patients need better treatment options, and that’s where you and I can help!
I am thrilled to be representing Amgen UK and Ireland for the London-Paris bike ride to raise money and awareness for Myeloma UK. A unique and rewarding opportunity where I hope to inspire and educate others. As a novice cycler I am extremely nervous about jumping on the saddle but I'm hoping my new found love for spinning will pull me through!
All funds will go directly to Myeloma UK, so please dig deep and help make Myeloma history and raise money to find a cure for our patients!
Thanks so much for your support, Uma!
