Thanks for taking the time to visit our team's JustGiving page.
I (Marc) have decided to run the London Ultra 50k for the COMBAT STRESS charity, as I am well aware of the danger of mental illness faced by our troops coming home from war zones. Having been in Iraq for six months during 2007, I fully understand both the difficulties of acclimatising to 'normal' civilian life and also soldiers' pride, which can further exacerbate mental health issues as they may be reluctant to seek help until a late stage. By this point though it may already be too late to keep hold of relationships and prevent the onset of unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drug abuse or alcoholism.
I feel that we owe these people a duty of care when they return. Some of these soldiers will face extreme psychological difficulties coming to terms with what they have experienced for Queen and country and the COMBAT STRESS charity provides essential support services for those in need!
Louis and I will be running this 50km ultramarathon around London from Streatham Common to Wembley. Also helping us with this event are Lou and Huw, who are providing coaching, admin and transport, as well as moral support!
Details of the route can be found here....

I am that hoping we will raise at least £2000 in total so please dig deep and support our troops!
