Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday November 16th 2013 I will be taking part in the Brecon Beacon Ultra, a 46 mile Ultra-Marathon regarded as one of the toughest single day events on the Ultra-Marathon Calendar. The terrain is a mixture of trail, mountain, canal and road running that takes you through the heart of the stunning Brecon Beacons.
... as if that wasn't enough of a challenge, in July 2014 I am taking part in the K78 Swiss Alpine Ultra-Marathon, a 48.8 mile race which is currently the biggest Ultra-Marthon in the world, with 13 miles taking place at 2650m above sea level through the amazing Swiss Alps. The race has a 12 hour time limit to more than keep you on your toes :)
My motivation comes from a place close to my heart. 2 years a go my Dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable form of cancer which affects the bodies plasma cells. Last year I completed the Icelandic Ultra-Marathon for a cancer charity and got an amazing response from people donating and I am hoping to have a similar reaction this time.
The statistics on the Macmillan Website state 1 in every 3 of us will get diagnosed with cancer and it is one of the toughest things you can face in life, both for the patient and the family involved.. The long term goal of Macmillan is to provide practical, financial and medical support with a view to providing better cancer care.
Any donations will be hugely appreciated which will go toward a fantastic cause and a charity which does phenominal work to help those involved.
