Ukraine has faced almost eight years of conflict. With recent events, we want to be there for everyone who needs us

Story

On 24th August 1991 Ukraine became independent from the USSR.

In 1994 Ukraine gave up its Nuclear weapons and signed the  Budapest Memorandum of Security Assurances which committed the United States, Russia and Great Britain to extend to Ukraine security assurances, including respect for its territorial integrity.

On 24th February 2022, 30 years and 6 months later Russia invaded Ukraine.

I am asking you to give 1 hour of your Salary in the month of March to support the people of Ukraine. If you would like to give more then please do. I would also ask you to ask your employer to match fund your contribution (my employer Virtual Human Resources will be match funding all staff contributions). Don't forget the gift aid if you are UK Tax payer..

We have all seen the TV coverage of the appalling scenes across Ukraine. My partner Angela, is Ukrainian and her family are currently in Ukraine. I am hearing daily of their struggles, but am so moved by their resolve to stay and fight and their bravery in the face of adversity.

Angela's brother has driven his wife and young children to Western Ukraine (which is safer for the time being) and has now driven back to Eastern Ukraine to support the war effort delivering supplies to the front line troops. Angela and I have already sent him funds so that he may purchase medicines, body armour and helmets amongst other items for the troops. If you are interested the charity he is working with provided him with a shopping list which is at the end of this piece I am writing.

Angela's mother and father who are in their 70s are simply staying put as they do not want to leave. They have no air raid shelters and we pray that they will all be ok.

The money you give to this site will got immediately to the British Red Cross who are coordinating with the Ukrainian Red Cross to get  supplies to the people of Ukraine. We are looking at a Humanitarian disaster not seen in Europe since World War 2 and the work of the Red Cross will be required for a long time to come.

Please give Ukraine at least 1 hour of your time in March by donating on this site.

Thank you in advance for your kind contributions.

Danny Brooks MBE
