Story
We at UKCEN are very proud of the work we do helping EEA nationals and families secure their status in the UK. That work is only possible due to the hard work of the many amazing volunteers who dedicate their free time to administering the Facebook group, and those lawyers who work pro bono in giving advice and developing our comprehensive set of resources. We really appreciate the many offers of donations that we receive from those of you who value our work, but we have been unable to take you up on those offers because we are not a registered charity, and at this stage we cannot take on the administrative burden of managing and appropriately using financial contributions. For now we need to stay a volunteer led organisation.
But we would like to encourage anyone who wanted to contribute to our work, or who wants to support the rights of EU and EEA citizens in the UK, to donate instead to our appeal for the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants. JCWI has spent the last 50 years defending the rights of all migrants to the UK, and is one of the most well-respected and expert immigration charities in the country. JCWI is supporting UKCEN by offering our volunteers free and discounted training. They are currently actively lobbying for the rights of EU migrants and you can find examples of their work here: https://www.jcwi.org.uk/immigration-policy-post-brexit.
UKCEN and JCWI are eager to work more closely together in future on both how to best assist individuals facing a changing immigration system, and also on the policy and lobbying that needs to be done to ensure that that system preserves rights and protects the vulnerable. Your donation to this fundraising page will help us both be more effective at this.
Please donate on this page, so we can track how much support is coming through the UKCEN network.
