Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We are taking part in the London Marathon on 22 April in memory of Lucy Clarke our daughter and sister. This date is also important to us as its Calvin’s wedding anniversary and the date Lucy was laid to rest four years earlier.
Six years ago Lucy was diagnosed with a rare condition called pulmonary hypertension which is a form of high blood pressure in the lungs. It causes the heart to work harder when pumping blood around the body. Lucy bravely bore this illness with dignity and courage, not allowing it to hinder her life, but sadly she lost her fight in April 2008, she was 24.
We will endure twenty six miles of discomfort, nothing compared to what Lucy experienced, to raise funds for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. This charity supports those people with PH and works with medical experts and pharmaceutical companies in pursuit of a cure.
There are some 4000 people in the UK whose lives are affected by this rare disease.
