Story
In March 2018, I will be taking on the massive challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
This is my first ever run and I’m kind of jumping in at the deep end with a half marathon (13 miles). The run won’t be easy for me as I broke my leg in a car accident a few years back and still have a lot of the pins and screws in my leg. I’ve tried to train slowly and steadily to make sure I give it as good a go as possible.
But all of the above pales in comparison to the pain and suffering caused by the various forms of cancer that affect so many of us whether directly or indirectly
Our extended family has lost many loved ones due to cancer but we also have great stories of those who have been treated successfully and survived. Much of that is due to the hard work charities like Prostate Cancer UK do, so I’m running to raise money for them.
Below are some alarming facts about Prostate cancer in the UK :-
- There were around 11,300 prostate cancer deaths in the UK in 2014, that’s 31 deaths every day.
- Prostate cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the UK (2014).
- Prostate cancer accounts for 13% of all cancer deaths in males in the UK (2014).
- In males in the UK, prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death, with around 11,300 deaths in 2014.
Prostate cancer can be treated, especially if picked up early through PSA tests. Please read more about these using the below link.

Please donate what you can, your donations and encouragement will help me cross th finish line!
If you can’t donate then at least please read up on the PSA tests and make sure either you or any men you know over the age of 50 speak to their GP about them. We have family members with us today because of early action.
Thank you so much for reading.
