Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
This page is to help gather sponsors for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust's Vampire Fun Run which is taking place on October 29th in London's Regent's Park. On the day, my partner Cormac Byrne and I will be donning capes, false teeth and lots of fake blood as we prepare to run 1km around the park dressed as vampires.
Ok, so 1km may not seem far compared to all the truly amazing marathon distances that people raise money for - but I'm delighted with the distance! Finally, a charity fun run that a sufferer of Aplastic Anaemia can take part in!! (It's a wee bit harder than normal trying to run with less haemoglobin than everyone else - I get very breathless!) I was diagnosed with the illness in 2005 and have since been battling every single week to keep going. The AAT have been fabulous in supporting me and my family, and it is with the help of their support group that I have got through it all.
I will be having a bone marrow transplant in December to hopefully cure the illness, and in the mean time will be getting into training for the big race!
Many of you will know that I am a musician, playing mostly with Uiscedwr - you can check out our website at www.uiscedwr.com or visit our myspace page (much more up to date) at www.myspace.com/uiscedwr to see what I do when I'm not hooked up to a blood transfusion!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Aplastic Anaemia Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Huge thanks and great big hugs for your support of me and the AAT. It means the world to me.
