Story
I am a second-year student at Northumbria university studying Architecture. InJune 2023 I will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Uganda with agroup of 19 other volunteers to help build a playground in a school for the local children. Play is essential for children and every child develops to play how they want to play.
Play allows children to learn and develop essential life skills andnurture their physical, psychological and social development through thelanguage they know best – Play
Your support will enable me to provide these children with an amazing gift of an enjoyable learning environment, something which many of us take for granted here in the UK. With only 1 in 4 children in rural Uganda currently enrolled in school, Play Action International have found that building playgrounds as community resources near schools helps encourage parents to signing up their children to enter education. An example of this is one school’s number of students increasing from 300 to over 900 within 1 week of the playground construction beginning.
Your donations will contribute directly to the cost of the playground, with all of my personal costs e.g. flights being covered by myself. Whilst £1750 is a huge target, anything helps and is massively appreciated!
