Hi, my name is Tyana Marks, I am 19 years old and I am about to take on my biggest adventure to date, something I've always dreamed of doing!
In September I will move to Ghana and spend 12 months in a primary school supporting young people as a volunteer teacher. I could not do this without the amazing support of my charity- Project Trust.
Project trust is an educational charity which has over 50 years of experience in supporting young people and their education in overseas countries. They provide opportunities for people like myself to make a life-changing journey that will benefit my future career but most importantly change the lives of young children who are less fortunate.
Project Trust organises long-term volunteering placements for people between the ages of 18-25 years old. Each year they will select young people from across the UK to have the opportunity to move to Asia, Africa, and Latin America for 8-12 months to help with teaching, social care, and outward-bound projects.
In May this year, I attended an online selection course with Project Trust and am delighted to say I was successfully selected to become a volunteer primary school teacher. This is an opportunity for me to grow and learn new things while doing what I love most, which is helping others. During my 12 months away in Ghana, I will be working in vulnerable communities teaching children English, Maths, ICT and life skills while also taking part in and hosting after-school curriculums.
For me to be able to go on this amazing journey I must raise £7000 pounds for this charity and so far I have been successful in raising £2000. I am also hosting a race night early in September where all proceeds will go towards the charity. Any donations you can spare would be greatly appreciated and would mean the world to me and the charity I have chosen. By donating you will be supporting not only my dream but the dream of many Ghanaian children- the chance of an education!
Thank you very much for all of your support.
Tyana
