Story
Charity giving is a valued part of School life at Twyford School and each year the pupils are asked to vote for one charity they would like to support. The act of giving therefore becomes a personal journey for us all, as we work as a team to raise as much money as we can for our nominated charity. Having fun along the way is vital and the children do an incredible job to raise money for worthwhile causes. Running sponsorship events, such as the Southampton ABP are activities that both staff and friends can take part in, showing support for pupils efforts. It's an excellent way to share the experience with pupils whilst being excellent role models.
Abby's Heroes supports families who have discovered the news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer. Families enter either the Piam Brown Ward for 0-16yr olds, or the TYA Teenage and Young Adults Ward 16-24yr olds at UHS University Hospital Southampton. The whole ethos of Abby's Heroes is to place their arm around the shoulders of these families and support them during this journey. They offer Financial Grants to help with the financial burden of having a child diagnosed, Practical support, Memory Making grants, Welfare Packs, Counselling service for the entire family, as well as two evening meals and a picnic lunch every week. Every single penny is vital to help Abby's Heroes provide these services.
Thank you for your important support.
