More about the Katie McKerracher Trust

The Katie McKerracher Trust was set up in memory of Katie who was diagnosed with a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in February 2008. Katie passed away in January 2009 and her family wanted to do something constructive and positive, in her name, which would both celebrate her life and provide support for families going through the same devastating experience as they did.

The Katie McKerracher Trust was established in 2009 and provides support by:

Offering financial assistance to patients to help them deal with practical day-to-day issues
Meeting with patients and families to help them understand what might happen, share our experiences, and answer any questions they may have
Providing some financial assistance to access alternative healing or therapy if appropriate
Working with health professionals to seek to improve treatment for DIPG patients

To date
Katie’s Trust has helped over one hundred children with a DIPG.
