Story
Well hello there, you filthy saucepot!
If you're here it's for one of two reasons: either you've typed 'angry hairy pussy' into google and really drawn a short straw, or, you've seen our Christmas appeal and want to help out.
Let me tell you what we're doing - last year we asked everyone to send us a Christmas card and we were absolutely inundated with responses - over 1,500! It was great fun, but this time we're going to use the power of our Cubs for a greater good. If you're willing to hear me out for one more paragraph, let me tell you about Bryson's Animal Shelter.
They are amazing. It's a bit ramshackle, a bit dog-eared in places, but the staff are the kindest, most dedicated people you'll meet. They take in all manner of waifs and strays - from fighting dogs who have been abandoned when they're 'not good enough', to cats chucked from moving cars, to rabbits and horses given up when the owners get bored. They never put an animal down, even if their arms get tired. They work 365 days a year to make sure every single animal brought in is treated, looked after and eventually - hopefully - rehomed into the perfect house for them. On the rarest of occasions when they can't find a home for an animal, they look after it for life.
Pictured are the basket of kittens that were abandoned - all brought back to health and rehomed!
We two Cubs volunteer here by walking their dogs and stroking the cats, giving them love and affection, but we're just a tiny part in a massive caring machine. I'm the most sarcastic person you'll ever meet but I am humbled by the work they do.
So: if you're reading this and want to help, please please do. Please donate what you can - the cost of a Christmas card and a stamp would be phenomenal, and anything else is a bonus. We'll make sure every penny goes to Bryson's because we'll donate on at the end the 5% that Justgiving need for admin fees. We're also donating the £100 we used last year to set up our PO Box - this year it's all about the animals!
If you have enjoyed our recipes, craic, videos, nonsense and group, it would be simply amazing to get a contribution. I know things are tight (lucky) and if you can't, then absolutely no problem - enjoy your Christmas!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
