Story
Queensland is the crown jewel of Australian birdwatching. Despite this, many of our birds are facing numerous threatening processes throughout the state. This year we are raising funds for two of Queensland's most iconic and threatened bird species; the Eungella Honeyeater and Capricorn Yellow Chat.
Funds raised will be directed to the local branches where these birds occur and used for conservation projects to manage these species populations. Your support to preserve these species into the future is much appreciated.

For Capricorn Yellow Chat here is some additional information:
How are the funds from the Twitchathon to be applied?
BirdLife Capricornia will use the funds to address the problem of Rubber Vine and Harrisia Cactus which have infested large parts of Capricorn Yellow Chat habitat in the Twelve Mile Creek area south of Rockhampton. Mapping has shown that some 50 hectares of habitat is covered with Rubber Vine which is reducing both feeding and breeding opportunities for the species. Rubber Vine will be treated with a basal bark spray and Harrisia Cactus with a bio control mealy bug. Feral pigs are also a problem since the Capricorn Yellow Chat feeds on the ground and nests in sedges close to the ground. Feral pigs dig up the ground looking for tubers and in the process destroy sedge beds and grasslands. It will depend on the amount of money raised by the Twitchathon that will determine how much invasive weed control and/or feral pig control that can be implemented.
