Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’ve chosen to raise money for Endometriosis as I have suffered myself severely from this debilitating disease. You could say I was lucky/unlucky with my story but if it wasn’t for the fantastic team I had, I wouldn't have my health back.

So, Endometriosis is incurable!

1 in 10 women  suffer from this condition and average diagnosis times from seeing a doctor to finally being diagnosed is 8 years! Yep, you didn’t read that incorrectly, 8 years for an incurable disease that affects you both physically and mentally.

My symptoms ranged from chronic pain, fatigue, endo belly- constantly bloated, migraines, nausea and lower back pain. This disease doesn’t really give you a day off, it doesn’t go into remission it’s CONSTANT! I used to call it my weekly raffle as to what I’d get and to what intensity.

I used to wish away days - days with my son that I should have been relishing with him.  But all I could think about was going back to sleep due to the fatigue. That hurt me, my journey just like most endometriosis suffers wasn’t smooth and I was fobbed off at the beginning. Work and social gatherings became increasingly hard and I relied on numerous pain killers and diets to help relieve symptoms to no avail.

My path from surgery wasn’t as we had hoped, namely due to just how severe my endometriosis had got and the intricate surgery needed. I had organs stuck together, adhesions everywhere and a deep nodule in my bowel. I suffered post operation complications and needed further surgery in the form of an ileostomy (stoma bag ). I stayed as strong as I could and forever positive that I knew I was going to heal but not without the amazing support of the endometriosis team! 4 months later I had the reversal …. Who would have thought I’d ever say it was great to pass wind again!

I’m doing this run as I want to raise awareness, support and further research thru the charity. Endometriosis currently is massively under funded and many women suffer from this incurable disease.

I have also somehow roped in Dr Shaheen Khazali and members of his team - I’m not sure how, my joke to him is that he should have sedated me more ! I’m honoured to have them running with me and supporting this amazing charity.

We are not called ‘Endo’ warriors for nothing and I can assure you, you wouldn’t want a loved one to suffer from this debilitating disease!

This last year has been very tough for me, what made it easier was my amazing Husband and son, and close family and friends  you know who you are. Thank you for your support !

Please sponsor me and help me to start making a change …..

Many Thanks

Tracey ♥️
