In May 2023 14 of us will take to the skies and skydive from 13,000 feet for Tom's Trust
ABOUT US
We all work for Turners of Soham; one of the largest transport companies in the UK. The majority of us are based at the Bicker depot and work in various departments, from the warehouse, offices and management on site. A lot of us involved have children which is why we picked this special charity.
TOM'S TRUST
Tom's trust; a Cambridge based charity was founded in 2011 by the parents of Tom Whiteley. This brave boy battled for 7 months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 9 but sadly lost his battle in 2010. The family struggled due to the lack of support during the diagnosis, treatment and beyond. Tom was treated at Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge and after his death his family were determined that no other family would be unsupported if they were unfortunate enough to be in the same situation. So this is where Tom's trust charity was created.
Tom's Trust is now the UK's only charity which is dedicated to providing mental health support to children with brain tumours and also their family to improve the quality of life and well being.
They currently support 371 children and around 1113 family members.
Tom’s Trust supports children and their families:
- Immediately following a diagnosis
- Through medical procedures
- Following medical treatments
- When integrating back into school
- Through any major changes or transitions, including the move into adult services
- While learning to live well with disabilities
- When coping with palliative care and bereavement
- Through all the times in between to improve their quality of life and wellbeing.
Our Aim
After reading Tom's story and being a small local charity that provide so much we wanted to do our bit. We are hoping to raise a minimum of £6300 as a group before we take the jump in May so my aim is to raise £450
Please help me, Every penny counts. And thank you for your support.
