Story
After reading far too many travel books and wishing that I had the time, motivation and (more to the point) the courage to make an epic trip, I've decided to try fundraising for MND Scotland along with a group of other folks from Chivas Brothers. I've often wondered what it would be like to attempt such a feat and now I get my chance to find out!
In this trip I'm going to try and propel this 52 year old body of mine 200 miles from Dumbarton to Keith in 3 days and whilst ascending over 10,000 feet on an 8 year old hybrid pushbike with larger than normal tyres. And a larger than normal body.No luxury of ultralight frames that you can lift with 2 fingers, no battery assistance for getting up the steep climbs, and more importantly no body of Adonis to turn the pedals for me. More like a sack of custard in very tight fitting cycle clothing ,sweating his way up every slope with a pie in his handlebar bag for emergencies and pockets stuffed with Jelly Babies.
But the real reason for attempting such a task is to help so I can help take us a step closer to a cure for MND. MND Scotland is the only Scottish charity providing care and support to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease, as well as funding research to take us a step closer to a cure. We want a world without Motor Neurone Disease, so I'm fundraising because I want to help find a cure for this devastating disease. Sponsoring me will also help MND Scotland to provide practical, financial, and emotional support to people affected by MND.Thank you!
