Story
Let's bring our local community together to fundraise for a local cause that matters right now!
Flip the concept of an emergency on it’s head....We call 999 when we want urgent medical help, now it’s our turn to type those numbers in a different way: Hit the donate button on here. Type in £9.99 & leave a message of support & appreciation for our ICU team. Then share this Just Giving link with friends, family, businesses & contacts in the local community so the word gets out.
Tunbridge Wells Hospital Intensive Care Unit is our local coronavirus battle ground and it needs our support now, more than ever before! All money raised in this campaign will be channelled in via www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tunbridgewellsICU and it will be ring-fenced solely for the Intensive Care Unit priority needs and wants. It's going to make a difference where it matters most – the local front line of Coronavirus critical care.
This campaign has been set up by Caroline May (a mum of 3 who lives in Langton Green and cares passionately about fundraising for the NHS front line) in collaboration with Laura Kennedy, the Fundraising Manager at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
The first £1000 we raise will be spent on 2 small but really important ‘quick win’ priority needs.....
1. Ipad devices for the ICU to have available for critically ill patients to see and speak to their loved ones ‘on the outside’. With visitors prohibited, this is a key priority.
2. The creation of a nurturing, calming and restful ‘Wobble Room’ for ICU staff to go to in those inevitable tough moments when they need a safe space to process, reflect, connect and ‘let it out’ and take care of their mental health and emotional wellbeing. This is a priority need now and it sits within a bigger, longer term plan to support the psychological wellbeing of staff and volunteers fighting coronavirus on the front line
The money raised will then be spent on equipment for the ICU to tackle Coronavirus. As you can imagine, tackling coronavirus is a rapidly changing situation and priority needs shift too. The Fundraising Manager will liaise with the ICU team to ensure the fundraising goes where the ICU team need it most. Updates will be posted on this page as and when appropriate.

To reassure anyone of the legitimacy of this campaign, the charity number for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital Trust is 1055215. The money donated via this page goes straight to the charity (via Just Giving) NOT to me. As the money arrives with the charity it goes into a ring-fenced pot for the ICU.
Also, to reassure people of my legitimacy & background, here is the link to my previous fundraising campaign for another NHS hospital https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/baby-arthur and also my current campaign which I am leading on https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thecardiologykids I am NOT employed by the NHS or any organisation to fundraise professionally, I do it as a voluntary activity because I love supporting the NHS front line as my way of saying thank you for saving the life of my toddler, Arthur. Tunbridge Wells Hospital saved his life in December 2019 when he was hit by sepsis and he has been hospitalised there many times, including May 2018 when he was hit with life threatening myocarditis and was transferred up to Evelina London Children's Hospital for specialist care. Without the NHS, we wouldn't have Arthur.
