The Cause
Coronavirus has affected us all to some extent. While we have all had to adapt to a new reality, and while the nation has stood still, families have been separated and, in some cases, will never get the chance to reunite.
One of the great recurring tragedies of this crisis has been the inability, due to the highly contagious nature of the virus and the necessary restrictions in place, of dying patients to benefit from the end of life experience they want and deserve. Families have been kept apart at the times when togetherness is needed most, making the grieving process even more difficult than normal, and the devastating speed with which the virus can take hold has not permitted the chance to prepare for or process drastic changes in the lives of patients and loved ones.
The Coronavirus outbreak has really hammered home the importance of end-of-life care and, therefore, I would like to raise money and awareness to help fund The Royal Trinity Hospice (Trinity). Trinity is focused on providing the best possible end-of-life care to those affected by any condition, both in their Clapham-based facility and in patients’ homes. Trinity provides clinical treatment alongside crucial services such as family counselling to ensure life can be lived to the full and that loved ones can effectively prepare for life after bereavement. Trinity
believes that every moment matters, and they go above and beyond to help patients and their families make the most of every moment they have left.
In 2019, Trinity spent £15m providing their free service to 2,500 people. A quarter of this was provided by through the NHS but the rest needs to be recouped elsewhere. Ordinarily, funds are raised through purchases from Trinity’s 31 charity shops across London, but these are all closed due to Coronavirus, and from organised mass-participation events such as the London Marathon, which has been postponed, so there is a significant shortfall to make up!
Your generosity will mean so much to the staff, patients and families of Trinity, now more than ever, so please give what you can!

The Challenge
In an effort to secure your donation to this extremely worthy cause, I will be taking on a unique test of endurance. Across 22 consecutive days, covering over 280 miles, I will attempt to run to all 267 London Underground stations in an unbroken sequence, returning each morning to the point at which I finished the previous day. That’s an average of just under 13 miles per day and the entire route is the equivalent of running from my East London flat to either Durham or St Ives!
The challenge will begin at Chesham station on Saturday 5th September
and conclude at Westminster station on Saturday 26th September. Full
details of the route can be viewed in the photo gallery (maybe some of you would even like to join me for the odd day or two?) and I will be posting daily updates and photos of all the stations during the challenge as proof! However, until then, I have some (a hideous amount of) training to do!
In the meantime, if you'd like to see how I'm getting on, please follow my Instagram page @tuberunner for updates!
