Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have once again decided that raising money for The Trussell Trust is worth the inevitable pain of running 10K. Last year was so much fun that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do it all again and draw everyone's attention to the critical work of one of the UK's most important charities.
I'm raising money to help launch more foodbanks across the UK, giving emergency food to people in crisis. These videos and audio clips give a flavour of how foodbanks work and why they are so needed:

Very sadly, since I ran last year, the numbers of families requiring the services of the charity have gone up drastically. Trussell Trust figures released recently show that foodbanks fed 128,697 people nationwide in the last financial year, compared to 61,468 in 2010-11: an increase of 109%. Many of those helped were families struggling as a result of rising food and fuel prices combined with static incomes, high unemployment and changes to benefits. 45,898 children have been fed in the last 12 months. Even in our own borough, Islington, almost half of all children in are living in poverty. Despite its reputation as the home of Britain’s upper-middle-class elite, the borough already has two foodbanks, serving the elderly, the single parent households and those who’ve faced sudden redundancy. Rising food prices are sending more and more people to foodbanks for help all over the country.
Please consider sponsoring me to help The Trussell Trust in the brilliant work they do – even just a small amount would be hugely appreciated.
So please dig as deep as you can and donate now. THANK YOU!!!
