Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Andy, Debbie and I (which, as has been pointed out to us means our initials make the word M.A.D), made a promise to each other last autumn to commit to three running events in 2017, through which we would raise as much money as we could to support ALD Life (more of their work in a minute). We have already completed the Southampton Marathon in April and the Cotswold 24 Hour Team event - with some splendid additions to the squad. Now its time for the last leg: The New Forest Marathon on 10th September.
Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a rare, genetic, terminal brain disorder that affects mainly apparently healthy young men.
We are privileged to know one extraordinary family who are living with the reality of this dreadful disease and have seen just a little of how challenging life can be. We are taking on the Challenge, not because we feel sorry for them (although of course, we share their pain) but because we want to honour them and others like them. Training for, and running an endurance race of this kind is hard work. We are not finding it either pleasant or easy. But with your help, we can make a difference.
ALD Life offers advice and support to families and individuals affected by ALD. We respectfully and humbly ask you to help us support this extraordinary group of people."
