So I decided to do some running. Yikes! Anyway, thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I'll try to add to it and keep it relevant and up to date as we get nearer the event. That event being the BUPA 10,000 around the centre of London on May 25th 2009.
Anyone who wants to come and heckle is more than welcome.......
Random musings:
15 Jan. 2009: Cycling in the cold makes my fingers hurt.
4 Jan. 2009: Still coughing up evil from my traditional Christmas cold but hopefully I can get out and do something energetic tomorrow!
March: Finally running outside regularly in my new, proper running shoes. Not sure they are working properly as I still have to do all the running myself........
May: One week to go, knees still seem to work most of the time and other runners on my route have stopped smirking at my slowness......
THE RACE: The day promised vast amounts of rain and as we started, it was dark, windy and wet - but then the weather cleared and gently improved all the way 'round the course. I enjoyed the route and the cheering from the crowds (and the enthusiastic RNLI cheerers). The event was really well organised - as a complete novice, I had no idea what to expect and it was nice to have everything so well set up. My final time of 1.02.55 was OK I think for a first time and I now have a decent goal for the next race! Hopefully I can get a start number further up the field next time :)
The Justgiving bit:
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
