Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is the third time I have run the London Marathon, having previously done so to varying degrees of success in 2014 and 2015. After a fallow year, I've decided to give it another go.
I obviously realise that many of you have already given extremely generously in previous years and that it may seem like asking a bit much for you to dig deep again. Nevertheless, the aim remains the same: to raise money for the fund we set up in memory of Helen Clark. Helen died back in 2013 and whilst time passes, her memory lives on with her friends and family. The legacy that we have tried to create for her as has been to raise money to better understand the root causes of Aplastic Anaemia and, more specifically, Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD), the tandem afflictions that cruelly cut her life so short.
Anthony Nolan have been taking all of your donations from this time collecting them into a pot to fund a research project into GVHD. The causes and treatments for GVHD are relatively poorly understood, affecting those with a wide range of conditions (not just Aplastic Anaemia), so research into this area is vital. Bit by bit Anthony Nolan are getting there and this is the only way we'll get to a point where these conditions become more easily manageable, treatable and possibly even curable.
Please give if you can, even if you did so before. It's for a fantastic and very specific cause - the memory of someone who many of us knew and loved.
Thanks for reading.
