Story
Hi everyone,
Most of you know that I am a member of a running club, but I am possibly the laziest member of that club. To turn things around in 2015, I decided to enter the Edinburgh Marathon - and actually train for it too!
My chosen charity is the Transverse Myelitis Society. Transverse Myelitis is a rare neurological condition involving the inflammation of the spinal cord. It is also thought to be one of the first signs of developing MS. This is a charity very close to my heart as in 2008 I was diagnosed with the condition and if it was not for the help of support groups (and the NHS care I received), I would have felt very lost and outright scared.
The illness is complex as it attacks patients differently. One third of sufferers have been paralysed permanently from this, one third need to go through rehabilitation and the luckiest 33.3% (the category that I fall into) have not had such a serious attack and can resume their lives with only minor symptoms.
Any money raised will go towards the continual research and support that the TM society provides for its patients...
..it also makes sure that I have no choice but to run! ;-)
Thanks in advanced lovely friends and family!
Trish
