Story
The last trip I went with my mum was to London to cheer on my sister Liz who took part in the London Marathon 2012. That day I was inspired even though I had not run more than 6 miles, to think one day I will do it and help a charity. The Choosen Charity is MacMillan Cancer.
At the age of 80, my mum did her first 5 km race at Balloch with Liz. So if she can do that, I can do a marathon at 42.
I am taking this opportunity, to say thank you to MacMillan Cancer Support for giving me a place, helping my mum, and others who live with cancer. Many of you will have been touched by cancer and possible helped by MacMillan - www.macmillan.org.uk
It will be emotional as the last magazine my mum bought me was Woman's Running just before she went into hospital. Even while she was in hospital she would be encouraging me get fit and loose weight, as I had stopped exercising for some time and the pounds had increased. She was funny as would say very directly "you need to get rid of that" pointing to my expanding waistline. Only mothers gets away with it, as they have your best interest at heart.
I am organising a dinner & fashion show evening at the Alea Casio on 18th April, which will help towards my target, but for those who can't make it.......
