The Tri-Fishlon

Tri-Fishalon · 6 May 2021
This May it is the 30th birthday of our beloved brother, Miles Fisher. He has spent the past year working incredibly hard as a nurse both in an intensive care department and his walk-in clinic, playing his part in the NHS' battle against COVID-19. We are immensely proud of his self-less efforts to keep people alive and would love to mark the passing of his 30th year with a big party.
However, due to current restrictions, we cannot all meet up celebrate this landmark with him. To make up for this, we (Miles' 3 siblings: David, Leah, and Nicola) are instead going to jointly complete an Ironman Triathlon. Leah will swim 2.4 miles, David cycle 112 miles, and Nicola run 26.2 miles.
We are doing this to demonstrate that the pandemic cannot keep us from doing something together to celebrate the life of our Miles, and especially as he loves an endurance challenge, and so completing an Ironman Triathlon for him seems perfectly apt.
Any money we raise will go towards the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. They do brilliant work rescuing people in the great outdoors in Devon and beyond, and since this is where and how Miles likes to spend his spare time, we know he appreciates their work (even if he hasn't required it yet!).
update: upon finding out about this, Miles has, of course, volunteered to do an ENTIRE Ironman Tri himself. What a guy.
update2: Preparations are underway! My bike is in for repair, Nic has decided to do a 30 mile route in the Pennines (yup casual slide to a trail Ultra..), and Leah will soon be in training so she can "smash it out in one go"
