Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As many of you know, we had a premature baby girl, Sofia, in June 2016. Most parents dream of holding their child straight after they are born, but this was not possible for us. Luckily, there were no major health issues and Sofia was discharged from Nottingham Queens Medical Centre after 2 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
While in the hospital, we were very pleased to find out that there was a charity called Bliss that supports families with sick and premature babies. Although we did not need their services, this opened our eyes to the great work that they do.
We have always wanted to do something for this charity and so we have decided to swim the English Channel this August as part of a 4 person relay with two of our good friends, Jo and Wayne. We still do not know what came over us when we entered the swim, but here we are, only five months away.
The English Channel is one of the five toughest swims in the world. It is the body of water which separates Southern England from Northern France and the route is 21 miles long. The crossing is challenging for so many reasons: cold water, jelly fish, passing ships, tides and not to mention sea sickness.
We would like to raise funds to support the great work Bliss does on a daily basis, so we would really appreciate it if you could help us, no matter the amount. It would really help us while staring at the bottom of the pool/cold lakes for hours on end.
We will be updating you with our training.
Thanks for reading, let the hard work commence!
