Fundraising for Marie Curie
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am going be trekking over six days on the Irazu, Poas, Arenal and Cerro Chato volcanos and various national parks in Costa Rica to help raise funds for the Marie Curie cancer hospice in Edinburgh.
After a short illness my brother Stuart, at the age of 47, lost his brave fight against head and neck cancer. During his last few days, Stuart was cared for by all the amazing staff and volunteers at Marie Curie. These people really do make a massive difference when it is needed the most, not only to the patients but to their families as well.
It costs over GBP13,000 per day to run the hospice of which, only 50% is funded by the NHS. The remaining 50% is reliant solely on charitable donations. Please dig deep and donate as much as you can to help other cancer suffers and their families to receive the expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left.

What I'll be doing
Day 1 - arrive San José
Day 2 - Irazú Volcano to Prusia Forest Reserve – 5-6 hours’ trekking
Day 3 - Poás Volcano National Park and Laguna de Hule hike - 5 hours’ trekking
Day 4 - Arenal Volcano - 5-6 hours' trekking
Day 5 - Cherro Chato climb - 5-6 hours' trekking
Day 6 - Arenal to Rincón de la Vieja Volcano - 4-6 hours' trekking
Day 7 - Las Pailas Trail to La Cangreja Waterfall - 7 hours' trekking
Day 8 - Homeward bound
Day 9 - Drinking beer and lots of it
