8 years ago my best friend Ian Richardson convinced me to do the Helvellyn triathlon. The problem for me (besides having to run up and down Helvellyn!) was that I struggled to swim more than a couple of hundred metres front crawl, so he helped me, persevered with me and eventually supported me to swim one mile front crawl as part of my triathlon training.
Four years later my best friend lost his life long battle with mental health and took his own life, so I have decide to attempt to swim the length of Coniston (5.25 miles front crawl) in the Coniston Chill Swim on 25th June in his memory. We all know someone that has struggled at some point with mental health issues, so please donate to this great cause.
