Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Around 28,500 people of all ages, from newborn babies to grandparents are diagnosed in the UK with blood cancers every year. That means it could affect your or one of your loved ones. What brought this home to me was my nephew-in-law being diagnosed with leukaemia last year. At the time he was an apparently fit and health "normal" 35 year old. He is now in remission thanks to some pretty nasty chemotherapy tratments and a great deal of courage and fortitude on his part. However, to find improved means of detection and treatment more research is of course needed. The Leukaemia and Lymphoma charity needs to raise £120million over the next five years to continue their life-saving research into better diagnosis, treatments and cures for all those with blood cancer. I hope you will sponsor me to help raise a small amount of that.
I've chosen to go the extra mile (or rather 13 of them) in the Great North Run, because thats from Stuart is from, plus the Great North Run is one of the most well known and well supported half marathons in the world. having checked the route out I now realise that most of the route is slightly uphill! However, having seem how Stuart fought the cancer gives the resolve to do the run and, I hope, raise some monies for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma charity to help make a difference in detecting and treating leukaemia.
