Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running this race not only because it's an amazing, iconic event but also to raise awareness and money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). I'm driven to do this as a tribute to the bravery of John, a life-long friend of mine who is now several years into this terrible disease. We have known each other since primary school, some 56 years ago, and shared quite a few stories, adventures and drinks along the way!! My best mate has always been a keen outdoorsman and a few fairly recent memories we share include running the Auld Lang Syne fell race together and walking the Yorkshire 3 peaks followed by the National 3 Peaks 2 weeks later. John has always risen to a challenge and shown real grit when the going got tough. He is doing it again now as he battles MND, the toughest of all battles anyone could have to face, and I couldn't admire him more for how he is handling it. John gave me some running kit when he knew he couldn't use it any more and I'll be wearing it during the event for inspiration and perspective - knowing this challenge is a drop in the ocean compared to those faced daily by my old mate and fellow MND sufferers!
