Story

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Being the mad pair that we are, we have decided that it’s ‘Now or never’ to complete a life-long ambition to run the London Marathon in April 2023!!

Anyone that knows us soon finds out that our Golden Retriever, Gulliver, is a central part of our lives. His love and compassion is unconditional. We are inspired by how Guide dogs give blind or partially sighted people the independence that most of us take for granted.

Together, we are aiming to raise £4000 for Guide dogs! All the money we raise will help the charity to find more guide dogs and other services to help people who are blind or partially sighted, giving them freedom, mobility and independence.

We started running at our local running club, Beginners to Runners Sittingbourne, as complete novices in our fifties! We are now ready to complete our long preparation and training for this inspiring Event.

We would like to reach our target of at least £4000 for this amazing cause and would love your help in doing so. All donations, big or small would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for all your help, support and encouragement on this long journey!! Trevor and Petrina XX

'Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss. This number is set to double by 2050, which is why our work is more important than ever before, however, we can only continue our life-changing work, such as our guide and buddy dog services, mobility training, education support, sighted guides and much more with your support.'

'Having a guide dog is a life-changing experience and I'm phenomenally grateful to Guide Dogs for enabling me to be more independent" - Priya, guide dog owner. How your funds will change lives... £125 buys a Starter Kit for a new guide dog owner £332 could provide eight weeks of Early Diagnosis Support to a child with sight loss and their family £710 could buy a Birthing Kit containing all the essential equipment for a guide dog mum to safely deliver her puppies.'

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
