This once in a lifetime adventure will allow trekkers such as myself, to take on the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and summit its highest peak.
The funds raised will be directed towards Barking Salvation
Army's work with homeless, social isolation, youth and children's work.
The Salvation Army meets the immediate needs of people who have to sleep rough or on the streets. Providing free hot meals and individuals with a place to keep warm for a few hours. Barking Salvation Army tackles social isolation amongst the elderly by hosting a weekly programme (Over 50s), entertainment, dinners, trips, games and quiz nights. Many elderly people in our communities have little to no interactions with others and are left at home in isolation.
Barking Salvation Army's youth outreach work keeps children off the
streets, encouraging them to live better and healthier lives through sports and dance programmes and kids clubs, creating safe and loving environment away from crime.
Salvation Army
Lifehouses are emergency accommodation provided by the Salvation Army to people who have nowhere else to stay. The accommodation is safe and secure and the staff on duty are available to support the individuals throughout the night. In most lifehouses, free meals
are provided and the individual is able to keep warm and feel safe for the night.
The Salvation Army also Support victims of human trafficking. The Salvation Army has developed community based Modern Slavery Hubs which provide survivors of modern slavery with a link to their local community and signposting them to a range of available support they may need.
I'm taking part in this challenge, not only to bring awareness to the work Barking Salvation Army does, but to help sustain it so that many more can benefit from their support in the community.
Thank you for your support x
