This year’s walk for Joesph’s Goal will see David Casey, Andrew Carey and Ben Mollitt test their fitness, mental stamina and sanity as they trek from Morecambe FC’s Mazuma Stadium to Wigan Athletic’s DW Stadium.
The fixtures haven’t fallen too kindly for us this year, but we have a plan. Instead of walking to an away game as is customary, this year we are intending to walk to a HOME game. But we will be walking from our opponent’s stadium, all the way back to Wigan.
We will start the journey from Morecambe on Friday 18 March, covering about 29.3 miles on the first day before we arrive in Preston and check in to our hotel for the night.
On the next day, we will again be up and out early to walk the remaining 17 miles to the DW Stadium, aiming to arrive between 1pm and 2pm ahead of kick off between Wigan vs Morecambe at 3pm.
The walk is to support Joseph’s Goal, a charity established by the parents of Joseph Michael Kendrick who has Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia, a rare genetic disorder that affects one in 60,000 new-borns. The condition is so serious that less than 500 people in the world are living with it.
If you can spare any money for this worthy cause, it would really be appreciated!
