Story
Firstly, a big thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We sadly lost Sonya Plant, a wonderful mum and big sister after a long battle with cancer. She was one of life's extraordinary ordinary people; kind, gentle and compassionate, and forever putting the needs of others ahead of her own. It was entirely appropriate that these were the very same qualities that she experienced in her stay at St Oswalds's Hospice in Gosforth.
Without charitable support this incredible North East-based organisation (which needs to raise £6.5m per annum through voluntary giving) could not have helped alleviate the suffering of mum and so many others over the years with life-limiting illnesses not to mention also helping their families.
It is for these reasons that we have challenged ourselves once again to trek the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. This may be our toughest challenge yet as we battle diverse terrain, climate and altitude! Plus, we will be giving back to the locals by becoming involved in a community project.
Remember St Oswalds rely on the support, effort and generosity of the local community. £15 will pay for a music therapy session for children and their parents & £25 will pay for 30 mins of bereavement support to someone who has lost a loved one.
As a side note we are paying for our own travel & accommodation costs so every penny you donate will directly benefit the hospice.
Please dig deep and sponsor us online - it's quick, easy and totally secure. We are grateful for any donation you feel able to make.
