Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Not all of you reading this will be aware that I have been suffering with chronic OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) on and off for the last two years. I had an extreme fear of harming people. I could not control the unwanted, obtrusive thoughts that kept recurring. My illness was affecting most parts of my life. For the first time in my life I felt vulnerable and fragile.
OCD is a debilitating mental health illness that affects around 750,000 in the UK alone. Access to effective treatment is limited, and costly.
Thankfully, as a result of a very effective 12 week group CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) programme , and some private therapy, I was declared OCD free in November 2018. I was able to function properly again.
I now wish to do something to help those less fortunate than myself, hence the challenge to trek up Machu Picchu in Peru, and cycle the Pyrenees.
On 22nd May, I will be trekking up Machu Picchu with my wife Jane. We will be walking 27 miles over 4 days, up to a maximum altitude of 13,776 feet.
On 22nd June, I will be cycling from Barcelona to Bilbao over the Pyrenees. Cycling a total distance of 645 miles, climbing 75,000 feet over 8 days.
The cost of both trips have been paid for by myself, so all money donated (less JustGiving fees) will go directly to OCD Action.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
