Story

We are walking in memory of Julie's Mum "Cassie" who sadly passed away in 2014.

Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2006 & tragically developed Dementia in 2010. Both are very cruel diseases.  Dementia slowly robs the person you love of all their dignity.  Mum loved her family, but as the disease progressed she was unable to recognise her husband of 55 years, her children, grandchildren, brother & sister, family members & lifelong friends.  She went from being a very social, bubbly lady to being withdrawn & depressed. Unable to communicate, to wash & dress herself, to eat & drink independently, to walk unaided & later unable to walk at all – the list of disabilities is endless!  It was incredibly sad & heart wrenching to watch the Mum we loved disappear, lost, lonely & confused in her own world.

Currently there is no cure & scarily it will affect every single one of us in one way or another.  Please donate as much or as little as you can afford, every penny counts, together we can help find a cure & make a very real difference.
