Story

My Granny, Christine, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease 7 years ago. This disease has progressed rapidly, and watching the mental capacity of someone I love so much deteriorate, has been one of the most difficult things I have ever encountered. Granny was always there for me and looked out for me; she was my rock. We would go on adventures together, and she taught me so many important messages in life. Through her final years of living at home, although her mental state had deteriorated, she still had the most happy nature and her laughter was contagious; it still is. Although she is now in a home, this hasn't got in the way of her happy spirits and her love for chocolate.

My Dad and I are participating in this walk to raise money for Alzheimer's Society, who offer a wide range of help and support for people living with Alzheimer's and their loved ones. This is a cause that means a lot to me and I wish to walk for my Granny to not only be with her in spirits, but raise money to help ensure the help of other people living with Alzheimer's disease.
