Story
Many are profoundly affected by Alzheimer's. This is the story of Cheryl's mum Jean, which inspired us to do the trek to raise much needed money:
My Mum Jean, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's almost 4 years ago and so started hers and my family's journey. We all had to come to terms with this diagnosis as well as get to grips with the kaleidoscope of emotions we felt, questioning how this could happen to such a beautiful, caring, lovely and loving lady. As my Mum's condition started to deteriorate, my niece found details of a local Singing for the Brain group organised by the Alzheimer's Society - my Mum absolutely loved it. She joined in with the singing, loved to get up and dance and to top it all got tea and cake! Covid 19 has unfortunately brought an end to these groups. My Mum's condition has rapidly deteriorated throughout the lock down and we have experienced some quite low moments resulting in us reaching out to the Alzheimer's Society. They have been, and continue to be a huge support to my Dad and myself, both emotionally and with helpful advice.
