Where do I start… it’s not always easy putting something so personal into words I guess but I’ll try my best. My name is Robbie Conway and like many of you reading this, the Afghanistan conflict was a big part of our lives. We lost brave brothers and sisters in arms over the years of being in that country fighting. They should never be forgotten. We will remember them. We must remember them. They made the ultimate sacrifice.
For a while now, I have been planning on a way to bring all of our fallen together, in memory. With the help of the Woodland Trust, I spawned the plan of “TREES FOR TROOPS.” Myself and Michael Tatton are taking on the challenge to run a 100 mile ultra-marathon with an elevation gain of almost 10,000 feet and we aim to raise £10,000 with your support. This is to create a memorial woodland for all friends, families and loved ones to visit.
457 individual trees will be planted together, each tree representing a fallen brother and sister. This is my way of putting their memory into something that can grow for years to come.
It’s a big amount to ask but nothing in comparison to the sacrifices that were made. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope I can count on your support in any way possible.
