Treats For Beats

Sweets For Beats · 6 June 2017
Hello and thank you for visiting our just giving page where we are raising money for COPS.
**This page is for the support of COPS so any money donated will go straight to the charity and not the treats**
The aim of Treats For Beats was originally to visit a few stations across Devon and Cornwall to connect with staff, embed the understanding of Peer Support and highlight other support networks that are available to help improve the wellbeing and welfare of staff. After a few cheeky "tweets" this has been turned into a challenge to visit as many stations as possible within a 24 hour period and engage with as many frontline officers as possible.
Peers from CMCU (Call Management and Communications Unit) and other frontline areas of the Force have produced a condensed welfare document and raised their own monies to support this initiative so not only will there be physical contact with the officers but the goodies in the form of fruit, cereal bars, water and sweets being distributed, no doubt a great engagement tool for the team. It has been highlighted from the CMCU staff that they have seen from shift to shift, officers having no opportunity for meal breaks and very often little time to de brief after incidents.
Through the use of Peer Support and more exposure to the initiative we are sure we can improve the wellbeing of our Peers. Recent publications show that 9 out of 10 emergency workers suffer with varying forms of mental illness, our aim is to stamp out stigma and show that it is ok to talk and OK to say you are not OK.
The team consists of:
RDO (Resource Deployment Officer) Lisa Burnett, RDO Sarah Herbert, PS (Police Sargent) Dave Thubron, PS Miranda Dalton, PS Chris Pusey, Kim Burnett, PCSO Kirsty Down, DO (Detention Officer) Natasha Pitcher and PS Jo Tearall
One team will be visiting North Devon and Cornwall, the other team will be covering the rest of Devon.
We have chosen to raise money for COPS. COPS is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives on duty and to rebuild their lives. Any money that is donated through the page goes directly to this charity.
