I'm running Leeds 10K for The Leeds Rugby Foundation on 14th July 2013.Below is about the charity im running for:-
Mental health issues are common- but many are undiagnosed, and conditions are something poorly understood. In some cases, people are afraid to talk about their concerns or ask for help, sometimes with devastating consequences. Rugby League is coming together for Round 27 to promote mental wellbeing, in partnership with the National Health Service.
The Rugby Football League and its charitable arm, Rugby League Cares, has created a programme with funding from Sport Relief, which aims to improve mental wellbeing in Rugby League Communities through the work of Super League Clubs' own charitable Foundations including the Leeds Rugby Foundation.
Leeds Rugby Foundation will be working with local Rugby League clubs to raise awareness about mental health issues and to ensure that someone within the local club can sign post individuals to the current services so that they are properly supported.
Rugby League is proud to be part of its local communities. They look out for our fans and for local people- raising money, running events, building partnerships with businesses, charities, local authorities. They recognise that the game of Rugby League and the profile and commitment of their Clubs, players, staff and volunteers can make a real difference to people's lives, particularly for those in less affluent communities, many of which are in the heartland of Rugby League.
We are delighted to be part of the Sports Relief programme with Rugby League Cares.
