Story
Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Just Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to our charity.
On the 16th November of this year we will free abseiling down the Transporter bridge, the distinctive landmark spanning the river Tees that can be seen from across the Tees valley. At a height of 225 feet (69m) this will a daunting experience and will involve us dangling mid air, exposed to whatever November weather the day decides to throw at us.
Through this event we will be fundraising for the 'James Campbell Memorial Fund' which raises money for the charity 'Cardiac Risk in the Young' (CRY). James was 16 when he died suddenly and unexpectedly from sudden arrhythmogenic death syndrome (SADS). James had just started his 6th form studies at Macmillan Academy in Middlesbrough and had a dream of becoming a F1 race engineer. Every week in the UK atleast 12 apparently fit and healthy young people (under the age of 35) die of an undiagnosed heart condition and it is the aim of CRY to reduce the frequency of these tragic deaths. More information on the charity can be found on these web pages: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/finalCharityHomepage.action?charityId=1000444 or http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/index.htm.
Thank you to those who donate, and please spread the word of our event, your donations and support are very much appreciated!
