Story
As many of you know this is a charity close to the hearts of our TransK9 family as for over 15 years Rob (our MD) has suffered from cardiac related health issues.
Between 2008 – 2012, despite the excellent treatment he received from the NHS, unfortunately he had three heart attacks; then in December 2013 he suffered a severe Cardiac Arrest whilst out shooting in the Scottish Borders.
Thanks to the CPR provided by our son Tom, he was supported until the arrival of the emergency services some 55 minutes later. On arrival in hospital we were informed that the chances of him surviving were around 1 in 10. Further to this we were told that if he survived his chances of having brain injury due to oxygen starvation were very high. Amazingly, and against all odds, he survived without any permanent disability and was soon back in the driving seat of TransK9!
Fast forward to 2021 and during routine tests it was found that his heart was once again starting to fail. He was immediately admitted to hospital, placed on the UK urgent transplant list, and told he would remain there until, hopefully, a new heart was found.
After several weeks in hospital a new donor heart was found. It’s been just over a year now since Rob’s transplant and, although he has faced many challenges over that time, he is well on his way to a brighter future. The truly wonderful staff of The Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow have been there every step of the way on his journey, aided by the pioneering work undertaken by the British Heart Foundation.
We use this page to help fundraise for The British Heart Foundation with donations made in return for advertising customers used boxes on our website. In the past few years we have raised over £19,000 and would like to carry on and raise another £6000 over the coming months.
Thank you for your support, every donation will make a difference to someone’s future x
