Story
Hello everyone,
As many of you know, we are a team sent by Tearfund, currently out in South Africa working for Ethembeni, a charity in a township called Mpophomeni. We have been here for three weeks and have already been struck by the generosity and kindness in this community of people who have so little. We now have the oppportunity to give something back in a practical way.
There is a local pre school in the township called Grace Chapel which educatates roughly 180 children between the ages of 1 and 6 years. The school has four classrooms and a bathroom, and is run by the five teachers who work at the school.
Our project is to improve the children's learing enviroment by painting the hallway and classrooms. These are currently bare concrete walls, cracked and chipped, that offer very little educational value. We have some money given to us by Ethembeni but we need more if we are going to achive our aim of making it a safer and a better learning enviroment. We especially want to raise money to buy hooks for the children's bags and jumpers which are currently all over the floor, to be more hygenic and to create more space for learning. Any other changes we can afford to make, would make all the difference both to us and the children.
Thank you for your generosity in giving and we assure you that all the money we raise will go towards the projects we are involved in. We ask that you pray for wisdom that the money is well spent, energy and creativity for the team and that the money you help us raise helps change these childrens' lives.
Looking forward to keeping you updated on our progess with the project. Love from Esther, Chloe, Nicola, Ruth, Eli and Gideon
