For 30 years patients and staff have been choosing to support Haematology Cancer Care because we help the Haematology Service deliver transformational treatment and personalised care at UCLH.

Story

I was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. I was successfully treated at UCLH and I am now trying to raise funds for the UCLH Haematology Cancer Care Charity. I have been in remission since then and have climbed Everest and now plan to be the first person ever to fly a Bell 505 helicopter transatlantic. That nearly 4000 miles in a bog standard helicopter with a top speed of 135mph and no special equipment. It will take 2 weeks travelling from Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Faro Isles , Orkney Isles, Scotland, England.

Nobody has flown a Bell 505 helicopter transatlantic before and there is a good reason for that !

I will have to overcome temperatures of -40c, a fuel shortage, polar bears, the polar ice cap above Greenland, freezing windshield and very large stretches of water at a very low altitude.  I plan to leave at the end of June providing Canada’s boarders are back open.

I am eternally grateful to UCLH for the life saving 7.5hr operation and 4 months of chemotherapy I received. I am trying to raise £50,000 in total so please support me in this dangerous and exciting endeavor.
