Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects one person in every 500. People with Parkinson’s don’t have enough of a chemical called dopamine because some nerve cells in their brain have died. Without dopamine a person’s movements become much slower affecting their ability to carry out day-to-day tasks and having to be reliant on someone else. The severity of the symptoms change as the disease progresses and having to take lots of medication to keep these symptoms under control often causes additional problems. My mum has lived with Parkinson’s Disease for quite a number of years now and it severely restricts her day-to-day tasks. There is no cure to date.
